    • Verhagen, Jerome 1998 Appleton Post Crescent dated 9/25/1998; Jerome J. Verhagen, Waupaca; Age 71, died on Wednesday, September 23rd, 1998 at his residence in Waupaca. He was born on May 26th, 1927 in Kaukauna, a son of the late Louis and Katherene (Bergman) Verhagen. He married Catherine Gray on June 11th, 1968 in Guam. She preceded him in death on July 17th, 1986. Survivors include a stepson, Roy Luellen, Waupaca; two grandchildren: a great grandchild; two brothers: Ervin Verhagen and Eugene (Rita) Verhagen, both from Kaukauna; two sisters: Johanna Fink, Algoma; RoseMary Kramer, Little Chute; and very close friends, Bob and Kathy Barman, Lodi, Wisconsin, and their daughters Jenny and Sarah; and numerous nieces and nephews. He also had many close friends while working with the Tip-Top Carnival show. Jerry had also made many good friends in association with the Kristy B Band in the Madison area. He's preceded in death by his wife, Katheren; his parents; two sisters Lucina Verhagen and Regina Swanningson; and two brothers, Stephen and Melvin Verhagen. Jerry had served in the U. S Navy for 21 years, and had served during World War II., the Korean War, and of the Vietnam war. He had worked with the Tip-Top Carnival show for about 10 years. Jerry was also proud to have spoken to many groups through his association with Alcoholics Anonymous. Funeral services will be held at the Holly Funeral home in Waupaca on Sunday, September 27th, 1998 at 2:00 p.m. with Father Paul Vandenhogen officiating. Internment will be in the St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Cemetery in Waupaca. Friends may call at the Holly Funeral home in Waupaca on Sunday, one hour prior to the time of the funeral. The Holly funeral home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
