- Schmidt, Gerald 2003 Appleton Post Cresent dated 3/4/2003; Schmidt, Gerald J., W2761 Schmidt Rd.Brillion Age 68, died peacefully Sunday March 2, 2003 at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born April 19, 1934 in Forest Junction; son of the late Bernard and Mary (Rossmeier) Schmidt. Gerald served his country, being honorably discharged from the Army. He was a lifelong dairy farmer and had also worked at Valley Packaging. Gerald loved collecting trains and model tractors, telling a good joke and being funny. He always enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Hollandtown. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn M. (Swanningson); six sons and four daughters-in-law: Bernard and Janice, Fred and Kari, David and Holly, Keith, Karl, Henry and Sabrina; two daughters and sons-in-law: Lorie and Guy Wanta, Sara and Martin Juneau; 15 grandchildren: Daniel, Katie, Erin, Arianna, Brayden, Ashleigh, Jordan, Elizabeth, Jamie, Jacklyn, Travis, Cole, Benjamin, Alex and Emily; a brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Grace; stepbrothers and stepsisters-in-law: Art and Marion, Len and Lori; a sister and brother-in-law, Ann Marie and Fran Kempen; stepsisters and stepbrothers-in-law: Lorraine and Don Brink, Rosemary Brantmeier and Lucy Johnson; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Mary Schmidt; stepfather, Henry Schmidt; a brother, Joseph Schmidt; and a stepbrother, Clarence Schmidt. Funeral services will be held at 11am Thursday at St. Francis Catholic Church, Hollandtown with Fr. Jim Lucas officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. The VFW Post 3319 will conduct military rites immediately following services at the church. Friends may call from 4pm to 7pm Wednesday at the Boettcher Family Funeral Home, 2401 Fieldcrest Dr., Kaukauna and after 10am Thursday directly at the church until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name.We will all miss him very much. The family would like to thank Hospice, Dr. Klingbeil, Dr. Swanson and all the staff at Appleton Medical Center and the Martha Seikman Cancer Center.
