    • Drexler, Gordon H. "Gordy" "Red", Gordon Drexler, age 86, of Appleton passed away peacefully on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 2008, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton. Gordy was born December 7, 1921, in Appleton, son of the late Joseph and Susan (Kuepper) Drexler. He graduated from the Appleton High School, and married the former Marcella Werner. She preceded him in death in 1985.
Gordy was a member of the USMC and faithfully served his country during World War II and was currently a member of the Harvey Pierre Post #2778 of the VFW in Appleton. He was employed at Wisconsin Energy for nearly 40 years, retiring as a Supervisor.
Gordy enjoyed much about life. He liked to cook, go out for dinner, make frequent trips to the casino, baby sitting for his grandchildren when he was younger, woodworking, grocery shopping, and visiting with his relatives and many good friends. He was also a faithful caretaker of all the pets in the family.
He is survived by four children: Ronald (Pat) Yahr of Appleton, Donald (Dotty) Yahr of White Lake, Patricia (Joe) Bowers of Menasha, and Kim (Scott) Nennig of Winneconne; eleven grandchildren: Scott (Karen) Yahr, Jeff (Jackie) Yahr, Tim Yahr, Wendy Jochman, Kelly (Jason) Thiel, Susan (David) Schulz, Carrie (Cal) Schumacher, Molly (Bryan) Setzer, Casey Frank, Eric Nennig, and Michelle Nennig; ten great-grandchildren; a special niece and her husband, Chris (Jerry) Magnuson; and his former daughter-in-law, Judy Yahr of Appleton.
Gordy was preceded in death by his wife Marcella in 1985, his son James Yahr in 2006; and three brothers, James, Ralph, and Robert Drexler.
The funeral liturgy for Gordy will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2008, at SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH, 222 E. Fremont Street in Appleton with Fr. Robert Karuhn officiating. Entombment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on Wednesday morning from 9 a.m. until the hour of the mass.
Dad, we will always miss your quick wit, your sense of humor, and your generous ways.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the nursing staff at St. Elizabeth Hospital, especially the 2nd and 4th floors. You took such great care of our dad - he could have been in no better hands. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
