- Caroline Benzinger, age 97, a former Mishicot resident, died early Monday
morning, Feb. 10, 2003 at St. Mary's Home in Manitowoc.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003 at
Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mishicot, with the Rev. John Neuser officiating.
Burial will take place in the Holy Cross Church Cemetery.
Caroline was born May 25, 1905 in the town of Two Rivers to the late John and
Margaret Stadler Buenzow and has been a lifelong area resident. She married
John Benzinger on Oct. 12, 1925 at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Two Rivers.
He preceded her in death in 1973.
She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mishicot where she was an
honorary member of the church's Altar Society. She was also a member of the
Mishicot Homemaker's Club and enjoyed reading and spending time with her entire
family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grand-
children.
(Survivors omitted for privacy); and by nieces and nephews. She was also preceded
in death by two daughters; Margaret Schleis and Delores Franz; and by a son-in-
law: Robert Schroeder. She was further preceded in death by one great-grand-
daughter and by one sister: Irene Jindra; a brother, Victor Buenzow; and a
stepbrother; Steven Vondrachek.
Relatives and friends may call after 9 a.m. on Wednesday at Holy Cross Catholic
Church in Mishicot, until the time of service at 11 a.m. There will be no Tuesday
evening visitation.
The Holy Cross Altar Society will recite the rosary at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at
the church.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
The Lambert Funeral Home of Mishicot is assisting the Benzinger family with funeral
arrangements.
The Benzinger family would like to express a very special thank you to the entire
staff of St. Mary's Home in Manitowoc and to Caroline's granddaughter (private),
for their love, special care and concerns shown to Caroline and our family during
Caroline's illness.
