      Mr. Nickel had been in the contracting business in Fond du Lac [WI] for a number of years prior to coming to Hurley in 1918 to build the first addition to Lincoln High School. He opened his office in Ironwood at its present location in 1920..

Sleight School, the Holy Trinity-St. Michael Parochial School, Divine Infant Hospital at Wakefield, the Grand View Hospital, St. Mary's Grade School and convent at Hurley, St. Ann's church at Bergland, The National Metals Bank, the Sterm and Field Building, the Durham Building, the First National Bank at Wakefield, The Hamilton Club at Montreal, and the addition to the Wasau High School at Peshtigo..

[Eileen] Rothwell both of Elkhart, Indiana; Mrs. Thomas G. [Nan] Scott of Lombard, IL; and one son, Peter J. Nickel of Ironwood; also nine grandchildren; three brothers, Ed of Malone, Wisconsin; August of Chilton, Wisconsin; and George of Fond du Lac; and several nieces and nephews..
