      Age 97 passed away in Manawa on Friday, November 28, 2003. She was born December 4, 1905 in the Township of Center to the late Joseph and Marie (Levezow) Ahrens. Ella Elsa Emma Ahrens was baptized on January 7, 1906 in the Township of Center by the Rev. Gustave Schauee. She was confirmed on May 28, 1920 in St. John's Church in the Township of Center by the Rev. W. G. Haase. She married Paul Carl Kamke June 27, 1929 in Fremont, Nebraska. They lived in Omaha, Nebraska until 1933 when they moved to Rush Lake Wisconsin and farmed there for four years. They then moved to Manawa to the town of Little Wolf and farmed until 1973. They then resided in New London until January of 2003 at which time she entered Manawa Community Nursing Center. She was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aid, Golden Agers and a Grandmother of the Lutheran Pioneers for four years. She was well known in the area as an avid bowler, having bowled for 54 years in regular leagues into her nineties. She was an avid collector and maker of dolls of which she had a large collection. She also enjoyed fishing.

      She is survived by: one son Paul F. (Lois) Kamke, three grandchildren Gregory, (Lu Ann) Kamke, Rickie (Nancy) Kamke Sr., all of Manawa and Cindy (Elmer) Keller, New London; two step grandchildren: Linda Hollis, and Carol Soldo from Shakopee, MN; six great grandchildren Tracey, Chad, Kim, Kelly, Rickie Jr., Jonathon and six step great grandchildren: Wendy, Angie, Sue, Warren, Ryan and Ross; and one great great grandchild Jeremiah; five step great great grandchildren: Brandon, Conner, Jacob, Madaline and Hailey. She also had four foster daughters: Patricia, Kaye, Jean and Joan Eichorst.

      She was preceded in death by one daughter Vivian Ruth who died in infancy; her parents, her husband Paul, six sisters: Anna, Emma, Bertha, Martha, Rose and Olga; five brothers: John, Frank, Otto, William and Alvin.
      Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 AM at Emanuel Lutheran Church in New London with Rev. William Favorite officiating. Burial will be in the Little Wolf Cemetery in Manawa. Friends may call at the Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in New London on Monday, from 4-8 and on Tuesday at the church from 9 AM until the time of service.
      A memorial fund has been established.
