- William 0. Ahrens
Appleton Age 82. passed away Friday, April 16, 1999, at St. Elizabeth Hospital after a short bout with cancer. Bill was born on June 30, 1917, in the Town of Center, son of the late John and Frances (Schwab) Ahrens. He lived in the Appleton area most of his life working as a painter. lie also worked for River-side Paper, retiring after 24 years. On June 20, 1938, Bill married Delores (Monty) at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bear Creek and the couple enjoyed over 60 years together. He was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, Appleton. Bill loved to spend time outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Survivors include his wife, Delores, Appleton; three sons, James W. (Alice) Ahrens, Combined Locks; Richard "Gorman" Ahrens, Lena; and Bill (Tina) Ahrens, Appleton; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grand-children; one brother, Gilbert (Clarice) Ahrens, Appleton; and one daughter-in-law, Diane Sttonach, Bear Creek. Further survived by many nieces: nephews, and special friends. Preceded in death by his parents: one son, John; one brother, Henry; two sisters. Evelyn and Irene; and one step-brother, Roy Martin. Friends may call at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2331 E. Lourdes Drive, Appleton, on Tuesday, April 20, from 4 p.m. until the time of service. Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Harry Barryman officiating. A memorial fund has been established.
