- Margaret "Margie" Mommaerts, daughter of the late George & Emma McLellan passed away on Friday, May 6, 2016 at home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer for the 3rd time. She was born July 28, 1928. She married Donald on November 4, 1946 in De Pere. Together they raised their 4 children. After retiring from Photography at Leiningers, she enjoyed spending time, making new friends and meeting people while volunteering at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. She was very proud of her many years of service at the church in various capacities such as a sacristan and to many other activities to mention behind the scenes. Taking communion to the residence of Rennes Nursing Home, and also to the home bound who could not attend Mass. Margie also helped several of her home bound friends, whether it was bringing them groceries, going to a doctor appointment with them or making and bringing her homemade chicken soup to them. She never said no to a request and always put herself last. She is survived by her 4 children, Linda (Tom) Christensen of De Pere, Tom (Cindy) Mommaerts of De Pere, Daryl "Chum" (Laurie)) Mommaerts of Oconto Falls, and Nancy Mommaerts of Suamico. Sisters-in-law Donna (Jack) Conlon, Doris Wishart, Diane (Gene) De Both and brother-in-law Robert (Nancy) Mommaerts. Step sister, Clara Petasek. Also, 8 grandchildren, Jolynn (Brian) Beardsley, Bruce (Lisa) Christensen, Luke (Cindy) Mommaerts, Troy Mommaerts, Valerie (Jason) Kelter, Ben (Brenda) Mommaerts, Penny Mommaerts, and Avery (Kris) Smith. Also, thirteen great grandchildren of which she enjoyed spending her time with. Margie was preceded in death by her husband, Don, daughter Debbie, her parents, brother Donald Mc Lellan, brother-in-law Rollie (Mary) Mommaerts, step sister's Dorothy Albers, Margie Blondheim-Brennan and Mary Barth, step father, John Lemmens, step brother Ed Lemens, John Lemens, Al Lemens and Pete Lemens. Great granddaughter Haley Guyette.
The family will welcome guests at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family, De Pere from 9:00AM to 10:30AM on Tuesday, May 10, 2016. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30AM with Fr. Tim Shillcox O.Praem officiating. Ryan Funeral Home of De Pere is assisting the family. Please go to www.ryanfh.com to send online condolences to the family. In lieu of flowers memorials are asked to be made in her name to Our Lady of Lourdes Church.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Heartland Hospice for all of their help in keeping her in her home. With a very special thank you to Katie who made this hard transition for Margie and her family easier
