- Barbara A. Van Beek, 82, Green Bay, passed away peacefully with her husband at her side, Saturday, May 20, 2017 after a seven year battle with Alzheimer's. She was born September 9, 1934 in Green Bay to Clarence and Helen (Chriske) Terry.
Barbara graduated from West High School in 1953. On May 14, 1955, she married Arnold Van Beek at Annunciation Catholic Church. She was a member of VFW Auxiliary Post 9677 in Bellevue. Barbara was proud of her Irish heritage and was a member of the Shamrock Club for many years. Through the years, Barbara was also involved in the St. John's Christian Mothers and she was a Den Mother for Cub Scouts. In her free time, she enjoyed playing cards, quilting, knitting, she was an avid Packer fan and enjoyed spending time with her good friends on Robin Lane. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, at the cottage up north that she and Arnold built.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Arnold; her children and their spouses, Dr. Edward and Linda Van Beek, Joseph and Tami Van Beek, Laura and Paul Van Rite, Robert and Nancy Van Beek; grandchildren, Katherine (Eric), Patrick, Nathan (Greg), Leah, Kyle (Rachel), Kayla (Ryan), Jack, Samuel; two great-grandchildren, Lola and Walter. She is further survived by her sisters, Claire (Joe) Terry-Smith, Mary Kay (Dale) Cornelissen; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Van Bellinger, Patricia Matzke as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Elmer Connelly; brother, Patrick (Jane) Terry; brothers-in-law, Henry (Mary Ann) Van Beek, Harold Matzke, Ray Van Bellinger; sisters-in-law, Geraldine (Clifford) Gauthier, Lola (Sam) Nooyen.
Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Parish Wake Service will be at 7 p.m. Friends may also call at St. John the Baptist Church, 2597 Glendale Ave. from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Howard.
