- WM. J. DUPUIS, VETERAN, DIES
Dies At Winnebago; Was Ill For Several Weeks
William J. Dupuis, 46, a World war veteran with 11 months of overseas service and a resident of this city for nearly 22 years, died at the state hospital at Winnebago at 5:05 Thursday afternoon. He had been a patient there for two weeks. He had been in ill health for two months and had undergone an operation prior to his confinement at the state institution. Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 8:45 at St. Luke's Catholic church. The remains will be under military escort by the Veterans of Foreign Wars post. The Rev. Father C. V. Hugo will officiate and interment will be in Holy Cross cemetery. The remains will be taken to the residence at 1720 Emmet street from the Beduhn and Goetz funeral home Saturday morning.
Mr. Dupuis was born at Coleman, September 24, 1888. He came to this city from Coleman nearly 22 years ago and was employed until 1918 in Plant No. 1 of the Aluminum Goods company. He entered service in June, 1918 and sailed for France as a private in the 7th Veterinary Hospital corps on July 26, 1918. He returned on June 21, 1919. When he was mustered out of service he began working at Plant 4 of the Aluminum Goods company where he remained until two months ago when he became ill. He was married six years ago to Mrs. Emma Courchaine of this city, who survives him. The couple had no children.
Besides his widow Mr. Dupuis leaves six sisters, Mrs. Peter Belonger, Mrs. Frank Duprey, Mrs. Max Laurent, Mrs. Joseph LePine, all of this city, Mrs. John Hanson of Coleman, and Sister Genevieve, and three brothers, Oliver and Wilfred, of this city, and Alphonse Dupuis of Coleman.
