- Rosary was recited in St. Margaret Mary's Catholic Church in Big Sandy for retired Big Sandy area farmer Charles J. Belschner, 82, who died in Havre Oct 27.
Pallbearers were George Ament, Edward Dixon, Frank Balazic, Gene and Pat Welty, and Claire Sohm. Ushers were Dick Bush and Bob Yirsa. Burial was in Big Sandy Cemetery, with military rites for the World War I veteran.
Charles J. Belschner was born May 27, 1892 in Green Bay, WI. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Belschner.
In Green Bay, WI, Sept. 16, 1919 he was married to Clara Moes. She survives him as do two daughters, Leona Sorenson and Adelaide Jurenka of Big Sandy, and one son,
Richard Moes of Olympia, WA. Five brothers Joe, Willard, Ray, and Edward of Green Bay, and Henry of Lansing, MI; two sisters, Susie Carter and Minnie Willequette of Green Bay; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Frank and Bernard, and two sisters, Mary and Clara, and one granddaughter.
Belschner came to Montana in 1913 where he homesteaded southeast of Big Sandy in the Hopp community where he farmed and ranched until his retirement in 1950 when
he moved into Big Sandy.
Here from Green Bay, WI, for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Ray Belschner, Mrs. Minnie Willequette, Mrs. Susie Carter, Harold Moes, Viola Moes, and Mrs. Pete Athey. Richard Moes was here from Olympia, WA, and Bonnie Nelson from Hawaii.
A double sadness in the Belschner family, Mrs. Susie Carter, sister of Charles Belschner, passed away at the Big Sandy Medical Center Monday. Burial will be in Green Bay. .
