      Passed away suddenly at 5:16 p.m. Monday, August 7, 1995. She was born March 20, 1913 in Appleton to the late George and Mary (Van Zeeland) Linskens and had been an Appleton resident all of her life. Gertrude married George Walter in June, 1935. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a Catholic Knight. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law; Mary Walthers, De Pere; Laurie and Russ Griesbach, Appleton; 10 grandchildren: Dawn (Nick) Albanese, Debbie Treiber, Dan Treiber, Diane (Nick) Ong, Denise (John) West, Tim (Sara) Griesbach, Connie (Don) Steudel, Shelly (Jim) Schaenzer, Melody (Jerry) Genke, Anne (Mike) Rathsack; 20 great-grandchildren, a brother John Linskens, Appleton. She was preceded in death by her husband, George #. Walter in 1991. The Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 11, 1995 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 402 W. Lawrence Street with Father John Holly officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior Street from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday and on Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the mass. A prayer and scripture service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being extablished.
      She had a special touch with children, animals and flowers. She enjoyed bird watching and fishing. Her grandchildren will remember with love, her "story telling" and gentle touch. Ah, yes Grandma we were just thinking of you.
