- Van Schindel, Clarence, Town of Freedom Age 83, died Monday, October 15, 2001 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He was born June 17, 1918 in the Town of Freedom, son of Martin and Catherine (Diedrich) Van Schindel. Clarence married Florence Klister on September 17, 19 42 at Saint Paul Catholic Church, Wrightstown. They celebrated their gold en wedding anniversary in 1992. Mr. Van Schindel was a lifelong farmer who sold seed to local farmers. He also sold bee pollen products. Clarence enjoyed traveling and polka music.
Clarence is survived by his wife, Florence; four daughters: Shyla (James) Smith; Pat (Steve) Konkle; Bonnie (Gary) Vander Loop; Jackie (Tom) Wyngaard, all of Freedom; 12 grandchildren: Randy (Connie) Smith; Mike (Sheila) Smith; Dave (Gretchen) Smith; Shelly (Aaron) Eisen; Brett Konkle and special friend Jacci Schumacher; Gina (Mike) Frank; Gary (Nikki) Van Schinde l; Kyle, Travis and Tammy Vander Loop; Amanda and Benjamin Wyngaard; nine great grandchildren: Jerrett, Tyler, Trevor, Katie, Holly and Hope Smith; Reid and Heath Eisen; Kamden Van Schindel; one sister, Grayce (Carl) De Bruin; six sisters-in-law: Mary Jane Hendricks; Rosemary Smith; Agnes (Hank) Hendricks; Kathleen (Robert) Ostrenga; Carol (Ves) Van Dyke; Shirley (R onnie) Stier; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in dea th by a daughter, Angie Van Schindel and a son, Gary Van Schindel; his parents; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Herman (Catherine) Klister; three sisters and six brothers-in-law: Ida (Pete)Ver Voort; Alice (Ben) Viaene; R osella (Francis "Red") Vondracek; Leo Hendricks; Rick Smith and Clifford " Jim" Klister.
Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday, October 19, 2001 at Saint John Catholic Church, Little Chute, with Rev. Msgr. James Vanden Hog en officiating. Interment will be in Saint John Cemetery, Little Chute. Friends may call at the church from 3:00 p.m. Friday until the time of the service.
