- Violet Laack, age 97, of Chilton, died on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Century Ridge in Chilton. She was born June 2, 1916 in Maple Grove, daughter of the late Ben & Clara (Cavanaugh) Kings.
Vi married Ruben L. Laack on August 16, 1945 in Maple Grove, WI. The couple worked sided by side operating Laacks Cheese Factory until 1987 when the factory was sold to Dan Ratajczak, Sr.
During this time, Vi also had the pleasure of teaching children for 49 years. She began teaching in rural schools grades 1 through 8, but a majority of her teaching career was in the Kiel Public School District. Following her retirement from full time teaching, she continued to be a substitute teacher for another 10 years.
She was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, the Brillion Woman's Club, the Retired Teachers Association, the Senior Citizens organization in Chilton where she served as Secretary, and was proud to be in the Red Hat Society.
Survivors include numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Ben & Clara Kings; a brother: Robert Kings; and a sister: Phyllis Schmelter.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Saturday, February 1, 2014 when the service will be held.
Vi's family would like to thank the entire staff and caregivers of Century Ridge for the kind and compassionate care they had given to her over the past seven and a half years.
