      Gietman, Peter Johannes Jr.


      Peter Gietman, 75, Little Chute, died Saturday, July 11, 2009, at Appleton Medical Center after a long illness. He was born November 24, 1933, in Eindhoven, Holland, son of Peter Johannes and Christina (Janssen) Gietman. Peter married Barbara Brennecke February 15, 1958, at St. Therese Catholic Church, Appleton. He was an engineer and was the founder of both CMD Corporation and Prima Engineering. He was an inventor and held several patents in the Plastic Machinery Industry. He was a member of the United Nations Army in Holland and was an officer. Peter was a bike racer in Holland and was an avid boater and loved playing cards. He was a member and past president of the McDowell Male Chorus in Appleton. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Combined Locks, and was also a 35 year member of St. Paul Church Choir.

      Peter is survived by his wife, Barbara; his children: Thomas (Lori) Gietman, D.D.S., Fond du Lac; Constance "Connie" (Todd) Verbruggen, Town of Buchanan, and Jennifer (Rick) Roberts, Kaukauna; six grandchildren: Jacob, Bradley, Kimberly and Michael Gietman; Kaitlyn and Peter Verbruggen; brothers and sisters: Nellie Bekx, Kimberly; Ria Hooyman, Fremont; John Gietman, Somis, CA, and Bert (Karen) Gietman, Combined Locks; two sisters-in-law: Joan Grimmer, Pine River, MN; Carol (Eugene) Jenneman, Appleton; father-in-law, Jesse R. Ramsey, Menasha.

      Peter was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jacob; his mother-in-law, Delphine Brennecke Ramsey; two brothers-in-law: Dale Grimmer and Ted Bekx and a sister-in-law, Jan Gietman.

      Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 410 Wallace Street, Combined Locks, with Frs. James Lucas and Bob Vandenberg officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Appleton. Friends may call at the Verkuilen Funeral Home, 101 Canal Street, Little Chute, from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and at the church from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the mass. A prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m. and the McDowell Male Chorus will be giving Peter a vocal tribute at 7 p.m., Tuesday evening at the funeral home. A memorial has been established for the Kidney Foundation.
