- Theodora Maria Vander Maazen, age 82, of Appleton, passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side on Friday, December 18, 2015. Theodora was born in the Netherlands on January 14, 1933 to the late Henry and Mary (Geitman) Bons. In 1954, she was united in marriage to William Vander Maazen. The couple enjoyed 46 years together until William's death in August of 2000. She loved to golf and work in her garden. Theodora and her husband were members of the Dutch Immigrant Society and St. Bernard Catholic Church.
She is survived by three sons: Joseph Vander Maazen, Florida, Paul (Dorothy "Dot") Vander Maazen, Appleton and Peter (Sharon) Vander Maazen, Appleton; son-in-law, Mike Bierstaker, Appleton; five grandchildren: Marina (Phil), Elisabeth, Brian (Iris), Mark and Jeff; two great grandchildren: Coral and Daisy; two sisters: Betty Kelderman, Kimberly and Anna (John) Schultz, Ohio; and her very dear friend, Rudy Salzman. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews and other immediate family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Lisa Beth, grandson Willie and numerous brothers and sisters.
A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 am on Tuesday, December 29, 2015, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 1617 W. Pine St., Appleton, with Father Dennis Ryan officiating. Friends may call on Tuesday from 9 am until the time of service. Interment will take place at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Appleton. To leave online condolences, please visit btlfuneral.com.
