    • William (Bill) Van Iten, 84, former Green Bay resident, died Tuesday, June 12, 2007, at the VA Hospital in Tomah, Wis. Born in Green Bay on Aug. 6, 1922, he is the son of the late William and Jessie (De Groot) Van Iten. Bill graduated from East High School, Class of 1941. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the renowned Battle of the Bulge and the Battle for Normandy Beach. After the war he enlisted in the Army Reserves. The rest of his life Bill was disabled and living at the VA facility in Tomah, Wis. .


      He is survived by his three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Virginia (Antone) Nickodem, Shawano; Gladys Habeck, Green Bay; Shirley (Alwin) Baeten from the Town of Humboldt; one sister-in-law, Gen Van Iten, Green Bay; many nieces, nephews and cousins. .


      He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Armond Van Iten; one brother-in-law, James Habeck; four nephews, Dennis, Gilbert and Stanley Baeten, and Paul Habeck. .


      Friends may call at Malcore (West) Funeral Home, 1530 West Mason Street, from 4 p.m. Friday until the time of the funeral. Funeral service Friday 7 p.m. at the funeral home by Sr. Toni Marie Jendrasiak, SSND. Burial in Allouez Catholic Cemetery. .
