      Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, age 89, died peacefully after a long illness at the home of her daughter and son-in-law on Saturday, Oct. 12, 1991. She was born in Freedom on Oct. 22, 1901, the daughter of the late Peter and Henrietta (Swinkles) Sanderfoot. Mary raised her 13 children on the family farm in Mackville and moved to Appleton in the late 1950s. She worked for Attorney and Mrs. Karl Baldwin for more than 20 years, retiring at the age of 82. Mary tried to attend Mass everyday and prayed the rosary as often as possible. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Third Order of Secular Franciscans of St. Joseph, The Blue Army and Legion of Mary. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with her family, especially all of the little children. Mary is survived by seven daughters and seven sons-in-law: Catherine (Howard) McGuire Jr., Appleton; Frances David) Timm, Seymour; Margaret (Wenzel) Kuba, Black Creek; Theresa (Frank) Short, Appleton; LaVerne (Joseph) Penterman, Appleton; Kitty (Don) Nuxoll, Black Creek; Stella (Roger) Wood, Appleton; four sons and four daughters-in-law: Merlin (Willa) Griesbach, Appleton; Donald (Jane) Griesbach, Freedom; Gerald (Maria) Griesbach, rural Menasha; Ronald (Diane) Griesbach, Clarkson, Kentucky; a brother and sister-in-law: Hattie (Cornelius) Sweere, Appleton, and a sister-in-law, Marie Sanderfoot, Kaukauna. She is also survived by 53 grandchildren and 76 great-grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by two daughters: Germaine and Marcella Griesbach; her former husband Peter Griesbach, four brothers and four sisters. The Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 1991 at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 222 E. Fremont St. with Father Bill Kuhr officiating. Interment will be in St. Edward Parish Cemetery, Mackville. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior St., on Monday from 4-8 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass. A parish prayer and scripture service will be held Monday at 8 p.m. A memorial fund in Mary's name is being established.
