Gonnering, Mary E.
Mary E. Gonnering, 70, lifelong resident of Freedom, passed away peacefully Nov. 11, 2009, in her husband's arms, with her four boys and her family by her side. She was born May 9, 1939, to the late Omer and Elizabeth (Rausch) Kaiver in Glenmore, Wis.
On May 4, 1960, she married Gene Gonnering and the couple resided in the Town of Freedom. Mary did the bookwork for the family livestock business for many years. She was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Freedom, where she was a member of the Christian Mothers. Mary was very proud of her ten grandchildren and enjoyed being a special part of their lives.
Mary is survived by her husband, Gene; her sons and their families, Ken (Sandra Effa) Gonnering, Freedom, and their children, Kortney, Katie and Jacob; Keith (Cindy Diedrich) Gonnering, Town of Vandenbroek, and their children, Maria, Elizabeth and Stephanie; Bruce (Donna Verhasselt) Gonnering, Freedom, and their children, Amber, Jared, Leah and Allie; and youngest son, Randal Gonnering, Appleton. She is further survived by her late brother Thomas's wife, Lorraine; special lifetime friend, June DeNoble; and special friend, Jane VandeWettering.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Kaiver.
A private funeral Mass was held on Nov. 14, 2009, and burial was in the St. Nicholas Parish Cemetery, Freedom. Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, is assisting the family.
