He was 87 years of age and it is an unusual coincidence that death came to him on his birthday anniversary. He has been an invalid during the past 10 years owing to severe attacks of rheumatism. He leaves a wife aged 84 years and four children, one son, three daughters and thirty-one grand-children and twenty-nine great grand-children.The funeral services were held Wednesday morning at St. Joseph's church.

The deceased was born in Bavaria and came to this country in 1854, and settled in the town of Grand Chute in 1856. Since 1874 he has been a resident of Appleton. Mr. Bauer was one of the sturdy pioneers of this county, respected and esteemed by all. He died at a ripe old age and his years were filled with deeds of usefulness.
