- Lloyd A. Karls, age 100, of Stockbridge, died on Monday, August 5, 2013 at St. Paul Home in Kaukauna. He was born May 23, 1913 in Stockbridge, son of the late Nicholas & Magdalene (Diedrich) Karls. He married Elvera Schneider on April 29, 1942 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Hilbert. Lloyd began working with his father in the family business. He proudly became a Master Plumber and continued working until he was 94 in the still operating family owned business. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Stockbridge, was a charter member of the Stockbridge Fire Department, Stockbridge Chamber of Commerce, and volunteered time on the Fireman's Park board. When Lloyd had a little free time, he took moments to go fishing, hunting or watch a game of baseball. He especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren pick up the game as they grew up. Lloyd was a man with a very strong work ethic and devoted his entire life to making sure that his wife and children were well provided for. Survivors include his wife: Elvera; his children: Paul (Janet) Karls of Stockbridge, David (Linda) Karls of Crystal Falls, MI, Mike (Mary) Karls of Stockbridge, Mary Beth Meehl of Kimberly; 14 grandchildren: Sherry O'Neil, Joel (Jessie) Karls, Lynn (Shane) Glidden, Jason (Amy) Karls, Vicki (Jerry) Paltzer, Shelli (Robb) Paar, Paula Karls, Ryan (Jessica) Karls, Aaron (Jenny) Karls, Nick (Tara) Karls, Shana (Nick) Josephson, Joel Meehl, Andrea Meehl, Daniel Meehl; 25 great grandchildren; a sister: Julie Hooyman; a brother: John Karls; and 2 sisters-in-law: Ceil Schneider, LaVerne Schneider. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother: Mathilda Karls; a son-in-law: Tom Meehl; his sisters: Dell (Jack) Wagner, Marge (Art) Bauer, Magdalene (Arno) Heller, Lucy (Gilbert) Wieseckel, Loretta (Raleigh) Strebe; a sister-in-law: Betty Karls; and 2 brothers-in-law: Jerry VanAbel and Marv Hooyman. Funeral service will be at 5:30 pm on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Stockbridge. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery.
