    • Florence G. Poppe, Little Chute, age 92, died peacefully Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at St. Paul Home, with her family at her side. She was born in Little Chute on May 11, 1923 to the late William and Anna (Dercks) Hammen. Florence married Ed Poppe at St. John Church in Little Chute on September 12, 1944. He preceded her in death on March 17, 2002, after 57 years of marriage.

      Florence loved to cook and often shared her treats. In her younger years, she enjoyed catering with Grandma Hammen. She was a lifelong member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church and also belonged to the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258 Ladies Auxiliary.

      Florence was a wonderful wife, mom, grandma, sister and friend. Her family was her pride and joy. Grandma Flo was a social butterfly and brightened the days of all she met. Florence loved to shop, play bingo and cards and shake dice. She had a great sense of humor and could always be counted on for a good joke.

      Florence is survived by her children: Vicky (Butch) Van Asten of Wabeno; Pat (Ken) VandenBurgt of Little Chute; Bill (Sandi) Poppe of Little Chute; and Christy (Judd) Schommer of Little Chute; grandchildren: Kim (Ken) Newhouse, Scott (special friend Melissa) Van Asten, Doug (Amy) Van Asten, Brian (Anita) VandenBurgt, Cindy (Kurt) Hietpas, Shelly (Chad) Laing, Sarah (Tim) Verhagen, Kelly (Andy) Hermus, Kara (Josh) Sprangers, David (Ashley) Poppe, Amie (Joe) Fischer, Matt (Megan) Schommer, Kayla (Jake) Locy and Rhea Schommer; great grandchildren: Kyle, Kevin, Mari, Mason Makaley, Max, Kennedy, Kade, Allison, Brianna, Courtney, Connor, Charlie, Katie, Jacob, Trevor, Tyler, Lucas, Ava, Emily, Henry, Finn and Quinn; siblings: Doris Vosters, Billy (Ike) Hammen, Jim (Alice) Hammen, Joan (Ken) Driessen and Bob (Jan) Hammen; and sister-in-law: June Poppe. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

      In addition to her parents and her husband Ed, Florence was preceded in death by her sister's husband, Butch Vosters; brothers: Maurice (Marie), Ambrose (Ceil), Ernest (Eunie) and Izzy (Helen) Hammen; sisters: Agnes (Ed) Schuler, Gerry (Fritz) Keyzers and Ria (Paul) Balgie; father and mother-in-law: Joseph and Hortense Poppe; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Al (Martha), Frank and Amedee Poppe, Mary (Sylvan) Williamson and Ann (Rich) Buechler.

      Visitation will be held Monday, March 14, 2016 at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH (323 Pine St. Little Chute) beginning at 2:00 p.m. until time of Mass at 5:00 p.m. The Rev. Msgr.       The Poppe Family would like to thank all of Flo's family and friends for the love they gave to her that she so happily returned. They would also like to thank the staff at the St. Paul Villa and Home for the excellent care she received.
