- Fond du Lac Daily Commonwealth, Sat. Jan. 20, 1917. DEATH SUMMONS BALTHES GILLES. Ten Weeks Illness Is Cause of Death. ALWAYS RESIDED IN COUNTY. Was born at Johnsburg March 15 (sic: 13), 1858 Funeral Will be Monday Morning. Balthes Gilles, aged 58 years and 10 months, a well known resident of this city, died at the residence, 145 Rose street, at 1:30 o'clock this morning after an illness that extended over a period of ten weeks. The deceased was born in Johnsburg on March 15 (sic: 13), and has been a resident of this county all his life. He was a member of the E.F.U. Besides his widow, four children survive Mrs. L. Feudner, Miss Margaret Gilles, Georgine Gilles and Ambrose Gilles, all of this city. The funeral will take place at 9:30 o'clock Monday morning from St. Mary's church. Rev. Charles Stehling will officiate and interment will take place at Calvary cemetery.
Fond du Lac Daily Commonwealth, Mon. Jan. 22, 1917. Gilles The funeral of Balthes Gilles was held at 9:30 o'clock this morning from St. Mary's church, Rev. Charles Stehling officiating, followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery. The bearers were Peter and Hubert Johann, John Richter, Matt Miesen, John Promenschenkel, and Peter Bernz. Those who attended the funeral from out of town were Mrs. John Kremer, Medford, Wis; Joseph Hennes, Mrs. Fred Wiese and daughter, Milwaukee.

WAS EMPLOYED AS PAINTER. Balthes Gilles, aged 58 years and ten months, passed away at 1:40 o'clock this morning, at his home, 145 Rose street. He had been confined to his bed for the past ten weeks. Mr. Gilles was born in Johnsubrg, March 13, 1858. He leaves a widow and four children, Mrs. L. Feudner, Margaret, Georgine, and Ambrose Gilles all of this city. The deceased has been a resident of Fond du Lac for the past twenty-seven years, and was employed as a painter for the Gurney Refrigerator company for fourteen years. He was a member of the E.F.U. The funeral will be held Monday morning at 9:30 o'clock from St. Mary's church. The Rev. Charles Stehling will officiate with interment in Calvary cemetery.
Fond du Lac Daily Reporter, Mon. Jan. 22, 1917, p. 10, c. 7. BALTHES GILLES IS BURIED. FUNERAL OF WELL KNOWN MAN HELD THIS MORNING FROM CHURCH. The funeral of Balthes Gilles, whose death occurred Saturday morning, was held at 9:15 o'clock this morning from the residence, 145 Rose street, and at 9:30 from St. Mary's church. The Rev. Charles Stehling D.D. officiated, with interment in Calvary cemetery. The pallbearers were John Richter, Peter Johann, Hubert Johann, John Pommenschenkel, Peter Berenz, and Matt Meisen. The floral offering was large and beautiful.
