- Death following an illness of several years, came to Mrs. Leonard Thissen at the family home on Center Street early last Friday. She was 85 years of age.
Funeral services were held from the Luecker Funeral home and St. Marys Catholic church on Tuesday forenoon. The Rev. G. A. Gregory officiated in the illness of the pastor, Rev. M. J. Kraus. Interment was in the parish cemetery just north of the city. The pall bearers were Mich. Kleiber, G. A. Schneider, Joseph Paradise, Louis Pritzl, C. F. Pritzl and Joseph Pritzl. Member of the Christian Mothers, of which the departed had long been a faithful member, attended the last rites in a body.
Mrs. Thissen was born Johanna Clevers in the province of Lamburg, Holland on Nov. 8, 1857. She came to the United States with her parents as a child of six months, the family settling in the town of Wilson in Sheboygan County. On June 3, 1884 she was married to Leonard Thissen at Sheboygan. They couple resided in Sheboygan county until 1900 when they removed to Brillion.
Survivors are the husband, 3 daughters, Mary and Mrs. Mich. Baer of here and Mrs. Benj. Pritzl of Two Rivers; two sons, Peter of Chow Chilla, Calif., and Henry of Brillion; and 17 grandchildren. Three half-brothers also survive. They are Henry and Herman Ariens of Brillion and Geo. Ariens of Oshkosh.
Son Peter left California immediately after being notified of his mothers death and arrived here in time for the funeral rites.
