    • William R. "Bill/Bud" Liebergen, Jr., 85, Bay Settlement resident, passed away Monday, Dec. 12, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer, at home, surrounded by his family. He was born Sept. 22, 1926, in Hurley, Wis., to the late William Sr. and Frances ( O'Keefe) Liebergen. Bill proudly served the country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. On Oct. 16, 1948, he married Dolores (Loos) at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Green Bay. She preceded him in death on Aug. 14, 2005. Bill worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier, retiring in 1984. However, he never stopped working. If you needed something fixed, a piece of advice, or someone to listen, he was always there. Bill was known by family and friends as one of the most kind, honest and giving individuals As a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend, he will be truly missed.

      Survivors include his children, Patrick (Kathy) Liebergen, Carol DeGrave (Leon Kaiver), Kay Liebergen; grandchildren, Jesse (Theresa) DeGrave, Christopher (Sara) Liebergen, Justin (Roberta) Liebergen; great-grandchildren, Benjamin DeGrave, Chelsey DeGrave, William DeGrave. He is also survived by his siblings, Patsy Atkinson, Norma Vande Walle, David Liebergen, and James Liebergen.

      In addition to his spouse and parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Paul Liebergen, and two sisters, Rosemary Tronnes and Doris Devroy.

      Friends may call at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason Street on Thursday, Dec. 15, from 4 to 8 p.m. Parish wake service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday, Dec. 16, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Bay Settlement from 10 to 11 a.m. Funeral Mass 11 a.m. at the church with Rev. Tom Hagendorf, O.Praem. officiating. Entombment in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum. Online condolences may be sent to Bill's family at www.prokowall.com.
