    • Gordon H. Bebeau, age 92, of Appleton, died Saturday, February 2, 2013 at St. Paul Home in Kaukauna. Gordon was born July 25, 1920 in Manistique, MI, son of the late William and Katherine (McCauley) Bebeau. He graduated from Madison West High School, and proudly served in the Army Air Corps and U.S. Army in the South Pacific during World War II. He attended Northern Michigan University in Marquette, MI, where he met Jean Trantanella. They married in 1948 in St. Paul, MN. He later attended the University of Wisconsin in Madison, where he earned his Masters Degree in Library Science. After working in the public libraries in Sturgeon Bay, WI, Escanaba, MI, and Valparaiso, IN, he was named Director of the Appleton Public Library in 1961. Gordon was devoted to his family, his work, and to God. He tirelessly worked to advance the Appleton Public Library. He was a founding member of St. Thomas More Parish. He was a long-time member of the Appleton Kiwanis and Golden K Clubs. A fan of the Brewers and Packers, he was not much of a golfer but enjoyed playing bridge and poker. He once had a perfect hand in cribbage. Gordon was very active with the friends of the Appleton Library. Kindhearted, civic minded, and good-humored, he will be dearly missed by his many friends and especially by his loving family. "Miss you already, Dad."

      He is survived by his 3 sons: Peter (Kristine Landreman), and their sons Joseph and Thomas; Theodore (Wendy) and their sons Matthew, Joshua (Ashley) their sons Elijah and Henry, and David; and Christopher (Jill); 2 sisters in law: Gloria Keil and Shirley Munson.

      He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Jean, parents William and Katherine, 2 sisters: Ruth Norton and Bernadine O'Brien; and 3 brothers: Bill, Ralph, and Cassius.

      A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 am on Wednesday, February 6, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1810 N. McDonald St., Appleton, with Father Gerald Falk officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Wednesday from 9 am until the time of service. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
