    • March 5, 1943 - Carroll Times Herald - Funeral rites will be conducted at 8:30 Saturday morning at SS. Peter and Paul's Church for John Pfeifer of Emmetsburg, formerly of Carroll, who succumbed to heart trouble and pneumonia at the St. Anthony Hospital here at 1 o'clock Thursday afternoon. The Rev. Father L. Schenkelberg will offer the requiem mass. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may view the body at the Dietrich Funeral Home, where it is resting until the time of the rites.

      Mr. Pfeifer, a farmer, had lived near Carroll for a number of years before moving to Buck Grove about two years ago. The family is just getting settled in the new home at Emmetsburg.

      A native Iowan, Mr. Pfeifer was born at Earling Feb. 15, 1884, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Mathew Pfeifer. His father, who was a native of New Ulm, Minn., died July 2, 1934. His mother passed away May 1, 1935.

      Mr. Pfeifer was married at Oakes, N.D., to Miss Margaret Kitzinger, who survives. He also leaves eleven children: Mrs. A.C. Klein (Viola), Hague, N.D.; Mrs. Otto Berg (Hildagard), Spokane, Wash.; Mrs. Francis Harenbosic (Lauretta), Grand Forks, N.D.; Irene Pfeifer, at home at Emmetsburg; Mrs. Peter Reis (Anastasia), Aberdene, S.D.; Raymond Pfeifer, at home; Stanley Pfeifer, of the U S. Army, New York City; Celestine Pfeifer, at home; Marsela Pfeifer, Sioux City; and Ralph and Orville, at home.

      Mr. Pfeifer was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Defiance, Iowa. He also belonged to the Knights of Columbus.
