  Sr. M. Leonis Kitzinger Marian Franciscan Center Milwaukee, Wisconsin Age 96, died at Marian Franciscan Center on December 27, 1994. She was born in Black Creek on June 23, 1898 to Mathias and Margaret (Doerfler) Kitzinger. She followed in the footsteps of her older sisters (Sisters Gervase and Protase) and entered the Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi at age 18. Sister Leonis earned her bachelor's degree in education from Cardinal Stritch College. During 62 years of active ministry, she taught elementary grades for 48 years at schools in Colorado, Illinois, South Dakota and Wisconsin. She served as a child care worker at St. Coletta's, Jefferson, and in domestic ministry at Desales Seminary before retiring in 1981. Sister Leonis is survived by a sister, Hilda Kitzinger and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was preceded in death by six sisters and three brothers. Mass of Christian Funeral was held at 7 p.m., December 29, 1994 at St. Francis Chapel, Milwaukee. Burial is in Holy Sepulcher Cemetery.
