- Paul M. Verboomen, age 87, of Lakewood, WI passed away peacefully on Aug. 29, 2012. He was born on July 11, 1925 to Andrew and Mary (Heindl) Verboomen in Wrightstown, WI. He graduated from Wrightstown High School in 1943.
Paul proudly served our country in the U.S. Army in World War II from 1945-46 in the occupation of Japan. He recently enjoyed the Old Glory Honor Flight to Washington D.C.
After returning from the service, he founded Wrightstown Manufacturing which makes custom farm equipment. He was a member of the Wrightstown Fire Dept. from 1952-77. He was the Fire Chief for most of those 25 years. Paul was also a member of the Wrightstown American Legion, and the Lakewood/Mountain VFW Post. Paul enjoyed the many family get-togethers at his house, especially making the connection with Belgium relatives here and abroad. He was also well known for his witty sense of humor.
Paul married Jane McNulty on September 12, 1975 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Wrightstown. They lived in Wrightstown until his retirement in 1987. They moved to Lakewood where he enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling and golfing.
Paul is survived by his loving wife, Jane, one brother, Carl (Linda) Verboomen, Wrightstown. Two godchildren: Annette Dreier and Paula Verboomen. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends in Lakewood and Wrightstown. A special thank you to Dick and Judy Dunlap and Dan and Doris Verboomen for their help and support throughout the years.
Paul was preceded in death by three brothers: Romuald (Kay), Clarence (Roseann), Leonard and one sister; Josephine (John) Stienen.
Visitation will be at St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church, Lakewood, WI. on Monday, Sept. 3, 2012 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon, with a Funeral Mass to follow at 12:00 noon, with Father Jason Blahnik officiating. Burial will be at the St. Paul's Catholic Cemetery, Wrightstown, on Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Weber-Hill Funeral Home, Wabeno, WI is assisting the family with arrangements.
