- Norman A. Bergner, 96, W2619 Linquist Road, Cecil, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at Woodlands Nursing Home in Gillett. He was born May 14, 1916, in the town of Green Valley, to the late Otto Bergner and Frieda Bergner (Wolfgram). On Oct. 19, 1938, Norman married Evelyn Bergner (Reinke) in the town of Green Valley. He was a member of Faith United Church in Gillett. While active in the church, Norman held many hats such as being an elder. Norman was also on the board of directors for the Green Valley Elevator Co-op. He enjoyed several hobbies such as playing cards and ice fishing. Norman was a farmer but was also very well known for his expertise in masonry. He is survived by two sons, Ronald Bergner, Gillett; and Chuck Bergner, Pulcifer; two daughters-in-law, Barbara Bergner and Sharon Bergner; nine grandchildren, Patrick Bergner, Jeffery Bergner, Brian Bergner, Cheryl Bergner, Jason Bergner, Adam Bergner, Howard Bergner, Norman Bergner, and Betty Baumgarten; nine great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and close friends. Along with the survivors Norman also took care of many foster children. He is preceded in death by one son, Robert Bergner; one daughter, Janice Bergner; two brothers, Alfred and Lyman Bergner; two sisters, Bernice Stahlkopf and Geneva Zemke; two grandchildren, Mathew and William Bergner; and a daughter-in-law, Jane Bergner.
Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at Faith United Church, Gillett. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. following visitation with Pastor John Laatsch officiating. Burial will be held at St. John's Cemetery in Pulcifer. A luncheon will be held at the church at the conclusion of the service. Kuehl Funeral Home (920) 855-2144 will be serving the family.
