    • Pulaski - Phyllis Fischer, 78, passed on to eternal life on Wednesday, January 1, 2020, at her home, exactly twenty years to the day after the death of her mother. She was born July 25, 1941, in Green Bay to Eugene and Matilda (Rief) La Plante. Phyllis met Nick Fischer on New Year's Eve, 1959 and the two married on January 28, 1961 in Green Bay.

Phyllis, a devoted wife and mother, worked alongside Nick on the dairy farm until his retirement in 2001. Even though she never imagined living on a dairy farm, she learned to enjoy the rural lifestyle and all it had to offer.

In 1971, her life was forever changed when Jesus Christ set her free from "religion", opened up the Scriptures and "set her feet on the Solid Rock". Her gratitude knew no bounds. She believed to the end that "to live is Christ and to die is gain." Her favorite scripture was Philippians 4: 6-7:

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Phyllis is survived by nine children: Dave (Sandy) Fischer, Suamico; Kevin (Deb) Fischer, Miami, FL; Bryan (Tricia) Fischer, Simpsonville, SC; Paul (Michelle) Fischer, Pulaski; Linda (John) Lassen, Foley, MN; Marty (Karen) Fischer, Plymouth, MN; Steve (Michelle) Fischer, Pulaski; Eric Fischer, Green Bay; Angelica Fischer, Pulaski; 26 grandchildren; one great-grandson; two brothers, Lyle La Plante, Green Bay; Duane (Audrey) La Plante, Fort Branch, IN; one sister Marlee (Gary) Greenawald, Green Bay; two brothers-in-law, Leon (Laverne) Fischer, Peshtigo; Stanley Skinkis, Seymour; two sisters-in-law, Bernice Parham, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA; Virginia Basham, McCormick, SC; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents; parents-in-law, Emil and Marie Fischer; her sister and her husband, Lois and Lee Rather; sister Dorothy and her husband Gordon Manteufel; three brothers-in-law Victor Fischer and wife Delores; Dr. Archer Parham; Gary Basham; three sisters-in-law Donna LaPlante; Lucille and her husband, Leonard Kurtz; and Rosemarie Skinkis.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Blaney Funeral Home with visitation at New Life Community Church, 6258 Crest Drive, Pulaski on Sunday, January 5 from 3 to 7 p.m.; followed by the Funeral Service at 7 p.m. A private graveside service will be held at a later time. To send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of Unity Hospice for making it possible for Phyllis to realize her desire to spend her last days at home.
