    Lawrence A. Artz November 7, 1928 ~ June 10, 2023 (age 94)
Lawrence Andrew Artz, 94, our energizing bunny was welcomed into heaven on Saturday, June 10, 2023. Larry was born on November 7, 1928, in Aberdeen SD to Lambert and Johanna Artz. He moved to Kimberly WI when he was 18 years old. Larry met the love of his life, Margaret Diedrick on a blind date and they married on July 28, 1953. They lovingly raised 3 adopted children.

Faith, Family and serving our country were especially important to Larry. He proudly served in the United States Army, serving in the Korean War and was a Purple Heart recipient. Larry was a 70- year member of the American Legion Post 60 in Kimberly. Larry performed many military honors for our fallen veterans in the community.

Larry was very dedicated to serving his community and Holy Spirit Parish in Kimberly. He loved spending time with family and friends, pulling many behind the boat water skiing over the years (always very patient), fishing trips, traveling, golfing, bowling, polkas, and square dancing. It wasn’t unusual to see Larry on the dance floor with Margaret doing waltzes, polkas and an occasional “gator”. He and Margaret attended the Green Bay Packer Ice Bowl. Larry is well for his love of gardening and had the most beautiful gardens.

Larry will be dearly missed by his two daughters, Noreen (Paul) Hannemann, Lynn Artz; and daughter-in-law Lynn Artz the 2 nd ; 5 grandchildren; Sarah (Brent) Knutson, Maria Verkuilen, Carly (Corey) Wachtendonk, Joy Vanevenhoven, and Shane (Kathryn) Vanevenhoven; 5 great-grandchildren; Alejandro, Brooks, Nick, Rocky, and Carter, his in-laws Sr Marian Diedrick, Rose Ebben, Joe Uitenbroek, Imelda (Marv) Hietpas, Rita (Jerry) Hietpas, Bob (Judy) Diedrick and Jerome (Pat) Diedrick and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his wife Margaret (April 11, 2023); son, Paul, parents, sisters, and brothers-in-law Johanna (Quint) De Bruin, Marie (Tom) Yeoman, Gertrude (Gerhard) Artz, brother and sister-in-law John and Curly Artz, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Stephen and Clara Diedrick; brother-in-law John Ebben; sister-in-law Eleanor Uitenbroek.

The family would like to thank the loving and caring staff at Country Villa in Little Chute who Larry loved very much. They went above and beyond to take care of dad. You will never be forgotten. The family would also like to express their sincere gratitude to Moments Hospice for their exceptional care, especially Ellen, Erin, Sophia, Becky, Melissa, Charlie, Dave, and Megan. Because of you, you made dad’s journey to heaven much easier. You are all truly a blessing.

Funeral Services for Larry will be held on Friday, June 23, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Holy Spirit Parish, 620 E. Kimberly Ave., Kimberly, WI with full military honors to follow. Visitation will begin at the church at 9 a.m. and will continue until the time of the service. For online condolences, please visit www.verkuilenfh.com

"Dad, thank you for showing us the true meaning of strength and courage. You were a legend and will be forever in our hearts. Until we meet again, God willing, and the creek don’t rise. Happy Trails Larry the Legend."
