DeGroot, Paul C. Paul C. DeGroot, formerly of Kimberly, passed away Monday, June 12, 2006, at St. Paul Elder Services surrounded by his family. Paul was born in Combined Locks on April 24, 1923, son of the late John and Johanna (Hanegraaf) DeGroot. The former Patricia Schultz became his bride on June 9, 1951, in Menasha; she survives. During World War II, Paul served as a member of the United States Army Air Corps and was a former member of the William Verhagen Post #60 of the American Legion in Kimberly. Paul began working for The Post-Crescent as a photographer, and retired later as a circulation supervisor. Paul enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and keeping fit. Many will recall his willingness as a volunteer at both the Salvation Army and Meals on Wheels.
Paul is survived by his wife of fifty-five years: Pat DeGroot, Kaukauna; a daughter, Nancy Vandenberg, Appleton and her children Gordy, Tim, and Kristin; a son: Jeff DeGroot, Appleton; a brother, Lawrence (Joanne) DeGroot, Kimberly; three sisters: Ella DeWees, California; Evelyn Riley, Appleton, and Theresa Sanders, California.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, a son-in-law John Vandenberg in 2001, brothers: Adrian, Ambrose, Eugene, Jack, and Maurice; and sister, Mary Lou and Grace.
A private funeral liturgy for Paul's family was previously held at Holy Spirit Parish in Kimberly.
Paul had been a resident at St. Paul Elder Services for four years, and the family would like to extend their thanks to the entire staff for making his stay comfortable and home-like. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
