- Doris E. Bergsbaken, age 85 of Shawano, passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side Friday, October 12, 2012. Born on November 6, 1926 in Green Bay, she is the daughter of the late Lawrence and Geraldine (Huguet) Blodgett. Doris grew up in Allouez and graduated from Green Bay East High School. On May 28, 1948 she was united in marriage to Willis M. Bergsbaken who preceded her in death on December 19, 1997. She was a long time member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Hofa Park. As an active member she taught catechism, was a youth leader and member of the choir to list just a few things she did. Doris and her husband owned a farm in the town of Lessor where they raised 10 children. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, ceramics, playing cards, fishing and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. After many years of farming, Doris and Willis fulfilled their dream and bought a cottage on Shawano Lake. She eventually made this home, where she continued her beautiful gardening and love of fishing (which she learned as a small child on the Bay with her father). Doris made it a point to spoil all of her grandchildren, especially with her famous brownies. She also never let a challenge of a game of cribbage pass her by. Through the years she enjoyed going to the casinos (WINNING) and her many trips to Las Vegas with her husband and friends.
Doris is survived by: 8 children, Linda (Jim) Morrison of Green Bay, Ron Bergsbaken of Lessor, Mark (JoAnn) Bergsbaken of Miton, Dan (Karen) Bergsbaken of Verona, Terry (Barb) Bergsbaken of Lessor, Julie (Russ) Hanseter of Appleton, Kathy (Jeff) Homan of Cecil, Randy (Beth) Bergsbaken of Lessor; 23 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, with one more due in March; a brother, Herbert "Buster" Blodgett; 4 sisters, Joan (Bob) Lange, Judy Girard, Pat (Richard) Dickensheid, Bonnie (Bruce) Ziegelbauer; brother-in-law, Jack (Sandee) Bergsbaken; sister-in-law, Arbutis "Boots" (Fritz) Krueger and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Doris was preceded in death by: 2 sons, Jan and Kevin; a grandson, Jacob; brother, Bernard "Bud"; sister, Virginia "Ginny"; brother-in-laws, Chris Kochen, Jarvais "Mike", Daryl, Leon "Pete" and Tom Bergsbaken.
