- Mrs. Chrestean Maher, 83, daughter of pioneer Kaukauna residents, died at her home, route 1, Kaukauna, about 7:15 this morning. She had been ill several months. The daughter of Alexander Grignon, one of the early residents of this section, she was born July 24, 1866, in Combined Locks and lived in that vicinity all her life. Her mother, Philomene St. Louis Grignon was the first white child born in Kaukauna and her grandfather, Ephraim St. Louis, built the government canal between Combined Locks and Little Chute. Mrs. Maher was a member of Holy Cross church and the Happy Death society, Jusus church, Milwaukee. Survivors are two sons, John, Appleton, and James, Lake Charles, La.: four daughters, the Misses Eleanor and Agnes and Mrs Vida Garber, Milwaukee, and Miss Isabelle, Kaukauna; three brothers, Robert Grignon, Munsing, Mich., Thomas Grignon, Toronto, Canada; and James Grignon, Kaukauna; two sisters. Mrs. Delia McKenzie, Portland, Oregon and Mrs. Florence Oberley, Minneapolis, Minn; three grandchildren and a great-granchild. Friends may call at Fargo's Funeral home, Kaukauna, after 8 o'clock Wednesday evening. The rosary will be recited at 8 o'clock on Wednesday and Thursday nights. After the cortege forms at the funeral home at 9 o'clock Friday morning, services will be at 9:30 at Holy Cross church, Kaukauna, with the Rev. Andrew Quella in charge. Burial will be at Highland Memorial park, Appleton.

Kaukauna -- The golden wedding celebration of Mr and Mrs Michael Maher, route 1, Kaukauna, Sunday afternoon was the signal for the gathering of relatives at the home. John Maher, a son, came from Chicago, and Eleanor, Agnes, and Mrs. Vida Garber, daughters, from Milwaukee. James, another son, also came from Milwaukee. Isabel, a daughter, is at home. Out of town guests were Mrs. Terese Early and Mrs. P Debraux and son, Wilbert, Wausau; Mr Earl Hefferman, Green Bay; Mr Rober McManus, Milwaukee; Mr and Mrs Raddantz, Manitowoc; Mr and Mrs E P Grignon and Miss Rachel and Louise Grignon, Appleton; Mr and Mrs Michael Doherty, Mr and Mrs John Maher, Sr, Green Bay; Mr and Mrs Myron Steffen, Dale. From Appleton also came Mrs. Loraine Radtke and Miss Elsie Radtke, and Mr and Mrs A Lewenstein. A 1 o'clock dinner was held at the Hearthstone, Appleton, and a reception at the home on route 1 Sunday afternoon.
