- Erma I. Fischer, age 87, died peacefully in her sleep on January 18, 2016 at American Grand Assisted Living in Kaukauna, Wisconsin.
Erma was born on July 15, 1928 in Apple Creek, Wisconsin, daughter of the late William and Ella (Stapel) Springstroh. In 1948 she married the love of her life, Milton J. Fischer, with whom she enjoyed 67 years of marriage.
Erma was a lifelong member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Appleton. Erma's true passion was her family. She was also an accomplished watercolor artist; flowers and birds were her favorite subjects.
Erma is survived by her husband, Milton J., brother Ervin Springstroh, and five children: Bonnie Jean Kinate, Jack L. (Deborah S.) Fischer, Debra K. (Rev. John R.) Kenyon, Cynthia S. (John M.) Lecker, and Rev. Sandra L. Fischer (William G. Madsen, Esq.).
Erma is further survived by her 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren: Jennifer L. (husband Michael, children Delaney, Kelsey, and Maxwell) Weber, Jeffrey P. (wife Meghan, son Brody) Kinate, Michelle L. (Rev. Paul, son Silas) Micheel, Jeremy J. (Stephanie) Lecker, Dr. Matthew J. (Jacklyn J.) Fischer, Jonathan L. Fischer, Esq., Katherine R. Fischer, Jacqueline R. Kenyon, Linda M. (Grant) Sorcic, David R. (Emily) Kenyon, Kimberly K. Kenyon, Rachel M. Madsen, Naomi E. (daughter Lila) Madsen, Trey W. Madsen, and Claire S. Madsen; her former son-in-law Paul J. Kinate, and former daughter-in-law Dr. Karen R. Adler-Fischer.
Erma was further preceded in death by her son-in-law Jeffrey Cook, six brothers, and two sisters.
A visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, January 22, 2016 at Valley Funeral Home. The funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Bethany Lutheran Church, 530 Parkway Blvd., Appleton, with Rev. Mark Henke officiating. Erma's family will greet visitors on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fox Valley Lutheran High School and Bethany Lutheran Church, Appleton.
Erma's family would like to thank the entire staff of American Grand Assisted Living, along with Dr. Nancy Homburg, Michael, and Melissa of Affinity Hospice for their kindness and compassion.
