      Age 67, passed away with family at his side, on Tuesday, May 6, 2003 at the Orlando Regional Medical Center. Ron was born in White Lake, Wisconsin on March 4, 1936, son of the late Harold and Lauretta (Robinson) Carlson. He graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1955. He then served his country in the U.S. Air Force in Mississippi and Texas from 1955 to 1959. Ron married Hazel Newhouse on October 29, 1955, and they have enjoyed 47 years of marriage. He was employed as a brakeman for the Railroad. Ron then was employed with the Appleton Fire Department for 28 years, retiring as Captain in 1987. He enjoyed spending time with his family, camping in Wisconsin and Florida, playing cards, golfing, swimming and bowling. Ron will be greatly missed by his wife, Hazel; his 4 children, Christina Harrison; Catherine (Biacio) Ciarla; Cherie Carlson; Major Colleen “Linda” (David) Vigil, U.S. Marine Corps; 3 sisters, Beverly Burr; Bonnie (Bob) Manteufel; Raeburn (Ronald) Peppler; 11 grandchildren who lovingly knew him as Grumpa; in-laws, Florence Piller; Eugene Newhouse; Betty DeJung; Nancy (Tom) Mathy; Shirley (Bob) Harke; and Gerry (Karen) Newhouse. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews. Ron was preceded in death by his sister, Deborah and his grandparents. The funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m., on Saturday, May 17, 2003 at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, with Rev. Michael K. O’Rourke officiating. Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Saturday, May 17 from 9 until 11:15 a.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
