    • Kikue Erie Thiel, age 84, of Appleton, passed away September 6, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 20, 1928 in Osaka, Japan. She met Lawrence B. Thiel in Japan during the Korean War. They were married and moved to the United States. Kikue and Lawrence enjoyed 50 years of marriage before his death on February 11, 2005.

      She enjoyed doing origami, camping and loved animals. Kikue spent time in her garden but loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren more. She also was an avid EAA fan, going to the fly in many times over the years.

      Kikue is survived by; her sons, Charlie and Marvin (Linda) Thiel, her loving granddaughters; Tabitha (Nathan) Wallenfang and Tracy (Ric) Evers, and her great grandchildren; Blake, Harper, Collin and Prestynn. She is further survived by other relatives and friends.

      Preceding her in death are her parents and her husband, Lawrence.

      Funeral services for Kikue will be at 5:00pm on Saturday, September 8, 2012, at the Valley Funeral Home. Friends and family may call at the funeral home from 3:00pm until the time of service.
