    • Wm. Rutten Dies Monday At St. Paul -

      After a long illness William Rutten died Monday evening in the St. Paul Hospital which he entered a few weeks ago. He was 88 years old....

      William Rutten was born in Belgium. As a child he came with his family to the United States and they settled on a farm near Belgrade, Nebraska. On February 23, 1902 he was married to Lula May Gelwick at York.

      In 1921 Mr. and Mrs. Rutten with their four sons and four daughters moved from Belgrade to Palmer community locating on the farm in the Loup Valley northeast of Palmer, which continued to be Mr. Rutten's home to the end of his life.

      Mrs. Rutten died in 1940. Their daughter Mary passed away about a year after they came to Palmer. A son, Oris, died in 1957.

      Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Tillie Johnson of Torrington, Wyo., Mrs. Pearle Shryer of Scottsbluff and Mrs. Merle Conaway of Lincoln; three sons, Donald of Lymon, Nebr., Ted and Glen, both of Palmer; a sister, Mrs. Louise Campbell of Washington; 30 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
