      Jacob Gertz, a retired farmer, aged 65 years died Sunday afternoon at 1:10 o'clock at his home on Beaulieu Hill, after an illness of three months.

      Mr. Gertz was born in Germany and came with his wife to Menasha about 40 years ago. He purchased a farm in the town of Buchanan where he lived until 1887 when he moved into this city where he has since resided. He is the father of ten children, who with his wife survive. The children are as follows: Mrs. Joseph Scheibel, Green Bay; John Gertz of Ladysmith; Peter Gertz, Hamilton, Mont.; Frank, Joseph, Jr., Jacob, Michael, Mrs. Ben Keelan and Mrs. Charles Nelson of Kaukauna; and Miss Rosa Gertz of the convent at Manitowoc.

      The funeral was held Wednesday morning at nine o'clock from St. Mary's church. Rev. F. X. Steinbrecher officiating. The pallbearers were his six sons, Frank, John, Joseph, Jacob, Michael and Peter Gertz. Interment took place at St. Mary's cemetery in the family lot.
