    • Oshkosh Weekly Northwestern, August 17, 1907: FUNERAL IS REMARKABLE
Forty Grandchildren Attend Services for Mrs. Keefe in Poygan - Hundred Carriages in Cortege.
The funeral services of the late Mrs. John Keefe of the town of Poygan were held Sunday afternoon at two o'clock from the family residence. Rev. Mr. Haywood of Winneconne officiated. He was assisted by members of the church choir. Interment was at the Winneconne Cemetery.
The funeral services were very largely attended and the floral tributes were profuse and beautiful. The funeral cortege was one of the longest ever gathered in the county. About one hundred vehicles filled with friends and neighbors of the deceased accompanied the sorrowing relatives to Winneconne. A large number were at the cemetery.
The services were brief and in accord with the wishes of the late Mrs. Keefe. Rev. Mr. Haywood spoke of the beautiful character of the deceased and her life of devotion to her home and family.
Mrs. Keefe was one of the oldest residents of the county, having settled in the town of Poygan over sixty years ago. Although of a retiring disposition, she had a very large circle of friends. She is survived by a husband and ten children. Forty grandchildren were present at the funeral.
Among those attending the services from outside the county were Thomas F. Keefe of Ashland and Walter F. Keefe of Chicago, Grandchildren: Henry J. Killilea of Milwaukee, Edward M. Lohmann of Minneapolis of Minneapolis.
The late Mrs. Keefe was the mother of T. M. Keefe of this city.
