- Obit Oshkosh Paper 1-13-2005 Jerome N. Kohl, age 75, of Appleton passed away on Thursday, January 6, 2005 at Cherry Meadow s Hospice after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born in Appleton on January 19, 1929 t o the late Norman and Louise (Ertl) Kohl. On October 11, 1951 he married Lorraine Sprangers a nd they shared 53 wonderful years together. He was a charter member of St. Bernadetteâ™s Paris h. He was a member of the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Union Local #9 and received hi s 50 year membership card in 1997. He was an avid gardener who enjoyed spending time at his l and: feeding and watching birds and driving his Ford tractor there. Above all, he adored bein g with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Jerome will be sadly missed by his wife, Lorraine; his children and grandchildren: Daniel (Sh aron) Kohl and their children: Greg (Brenda) Kohl, and Michelle (Brad) Paltzer; Anthony (Joan ) Kohl and their children: Julie and Debbie Kohl; Louis (Barb) Kohl and their children: Rache l and Rebecca Kohl and Lyndon Vander Zanden; Kathleen (Kevin) Milbach and their son Nelson Mi lbach; Ann (Jim) Appleton; Betty (Pete) Bosch and their son Clarke Bosch; Rose (Richard) Heim an and their children: Karl and Olivia Heiman; Patricia (Daniel) Michalkiewicz and their chil dren: Marissa and Mason Michalkiewicz; Marie (Bill) Becker and their sons: Willie and Joe Bec ker. He is further survived by two great grandchildren: Jenna Kohl and Emma Paltzer; his brot her Richard (Marylyn) Kohl; two sisters: Geraldine (Arnie) Van Handel, and Mary Lou (Clyde) H eckner; Brothers and sisters -in - law: Ellen Kohl, Janet (Don) Vanden Heuvel, Beatrice Muell er, Elaine Gregoire, Margie (Ken) Van Stralen, Leonard (Mary) Sprangers, Joseph (Kay) Sprange rs, and Evelyn Sprangers.
In addition to his parents, Jerome was preceded in death by two brothers: Joseph and Norman K ohl; 1 sister: Carol Jansen; and siblings - in - law: Lawrence (Marlene) Sprangers, Floyd Spr angers, Fred Mueller, and Eugene Gregoire.
A funeral mass for Mr. Kohl will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, January 10, 2005 at St. Ber nadette Catholic Church 2331 E. Lourdes Drive, Appleton. Visitation will be from 9:30 until t he time of the mass at church.
In Lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Jeromeâ™s name.
The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers at Cherry Meadows Hospice for their l oving care, along with a special thank you to Jeromeâ™s Hospice nurse, Mary.
