    • Ruth J. Grebe, age 99, of Kaukauna, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 18, 2015 at the American Grand in Kaukauna. Ruth was born in Kaukauna on November 13, 1915, to the late Albert and Mamie (Vanevanhoven) Trettin. After graduating from Kaukauna High School, she was employed for many years at Thilmany Paper. In 1956, she was united in marriage to Edgar Grebe upon his return from Alaska. After marriage, Edgar's job took them to Illinois for 25 years. Ruth was always active at their church and was involved with the Woman's Guild. After retirement, they moved back to Wisconsin. Ruth always took great pride and worked hard to make sure her family had a loving home.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Debbe (Joe) Reckinger, Batavia, IL; son Michael, Kaukauna; 5 grandchildren: Daniel Reckinger, Steven (Amanda) Reckinger, Christy (Jeff) Laczynski, Jason (Lisa) Grebe, Emily (Chad) Mykel; and 8 great grandchildren: Haley, Madisyn, Ty, Dylan, Ezra, Owen, Kc, and Myles. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edgar, sister Alice (Arnie), brother Herb (Alyce), and a grandson Tony.

A funeral service will take place at 11 am on Thursday, May 21, at Faith Lutheran Church, 601 E. Glendale Ave. Appleton, with Rev. Aaron Rosenau officiating. Friends may visit directly at the church on Thursday from 10 am until the time of service. Entombment will take place at Highland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Heartland Hospice and the staff at American Grand for the compassionate care given to Ruth.
