Mrs. John Wallace (Josephine Smet) N9516 State Park Rd. Darboy-Appleton
Age 73, died Saturday, February 5, 1994 at her home. She was born May 10, 1920 in Milladore, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Peter and Kathryn (DeBeukelabra) Smet. Josephine married John Wallace on June 25, 1946 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Kaukauna. She resided on the Wallace homestead, Darboy until her death. Josephine enjoyed caring for her family and her hobbies were cooking and gardening. She was an active member of Holy Angels Catholic Church and their St. Anne's Altar Society.
She was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother and is survived by her husband of 47 years, John; eight children; John Jr. and Sandy Wallace, Greenville, Peter and Karla Wallace, Darboy, Paul and Cathy Wallace, Forestville; Mark and Diane Wallace, Darboy; JoAnn and Roger Vande Heiden, Kaukauna; George and Tina Wallace, Hollandtown; Greg and Anna Wallace, Darboy; Karen and Steve Gunderson, Menasha; and a son in-law, Bob Guy, Merrill; 22 grandchildren; Susan and Melissa Wallace, Shane Clarke, Aaron and Megan Wallace, Paul Jr. and Kim Wallace, Jenny and Chris Wallace, Heidi, Heather, Holly and Lucas Vander Heiden, Sara and Tim Guy, Jessica, Stephanie and John Wallace, Rachel and Caleb Wallace, Kelsey and Simon Gunderson; three brothers and sisters in-law; Joseph and Ceil Smet, Sherwood; Francis Germaine Smet, Sherwood; and Clarence and Margaret, Seymour; three sisters and two brothers in-law; Hortense and Ray Van Handel, Seymour; Catherine Schlimm, Appleton; Margaret and Norman Bowers, Kaukauna. She is further survived by her husbands sister, Beatrice Buchinger, Kaukauna; three sisters in-law; Stella Wallace, Little Chute; Margaret Wallace, Combined Locks; and Gerry Wallace, Darboy; a brother in-law, Henry Stump, Neenah.
She was preceded in death by a daughter Mary Guy in 1980; a brother; Edward Smet; a sister, Marion Smet; and a brother in-law; Clement Schlimm.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 8, 1994 at Holy Angels Catholic Church, Darboy with Father Don Fuller officiating. Burial will be in Holy Angels Cemetery. Friends may call at the Fargo Funeral Home 400 W. Wis. Ave., Kaukauna, from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday (tonight) and after 9 a.m. on Tuesday until the cortege leaves for the church. There will be a parish prayer service at 6:30 p.m. this evening. A memorial fund has been established for the Appleton VNA Hospice Program. The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and cards. A special thanks for Father Fuller and Doctor Van Lieshout, the Hospice program and a special thanks to Nancy and Barb.
