    • CAROLINE HESS of Shawano formerly of Kimberly died Wednesday, November 6, 2013, at ThedaCare Hospice Residence in Appleton at the age of 87. She was born October 26, 1926, in the town of Hartland, Shawano County, a daughter of the late Otto Rotter and Lillian (Stern) Rotter. She married Henry August Hess on September 10, 1947, who preceded her in death on June 19, 1976.

She was a registered nurse prior to her retirement. She was a member of Divine Savior Ev. Lutheran Church in Shawano and very active in the L.W.M.S. program and the Ladies Aid. She spent much time in support of her favorite charity, The Bargain Garden Thrift Shop in Appleton where she was affectionately known as the "Flower Lady." She enjoyed music and was always up for a dance to a good polka. She enjoyed sewing and

crafts and was always busy with her projects, loved the outdoors and could always be found working in her garden or on the lake with a fishing pole in her hand. She was loved very much and will be missed by all (except the sparrows that plagued her martins and the rabbits that got into her garden).

Caroline is survived by her three sons, Allan ( Alona) Hess of Appleton; Andy (Kay) Hess of Hobart and Daryl (Denise) Hess of Freedom; two brothers, George (Janet) Rotter of Oshkosh and Robert (Carol) Rotter of Shawano; her sister, Marion (Earl) Plass of Kimberly; five grandchildren that she loved dearly, Torrey Hess, Tony (Ashley) Hess, Joseph (Kristen) Hess, Kathleen (John) Youle, Craig Hess; seven great grandchildren that she adored, Malory Hess, Nolan Hess, Conner Hess, Riley Hess, Maximo Youle, Victoria Youle, Alexandra Youle; special friend, Justice; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Caroline committed herself to God's care, secure in His love for her and trusting in the salvation purchased for her through Christ's suffering and death. She leaves those who survive her with the comfort of knowing that she died in this faith and has now joined her Lord and Savior in eternal glory. She knew and often reminded her family that "The best is yet to come!"

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Divine Savior Ev. Lutheran Church, 102 Northridge Dr., Shawano, with Pastor James Naumann officiating. Family and friends may call at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be at Appleton Highland Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Divine Savior Endowment Fund would be appreciated.

The family would like to thank the staff of ThedaCare Hospice Residence in Appleton for the loving care they provided our mother.

Zastrow Funeral Home in Cecil is assisting the family.
