  • Notes
    • After a siege of Bright’s disease, Mr. Michael Binsfeld passed away at his home on Spring St. in Chilton early Monday morning. The deceased saw the light of day Oct 13, 1834 in Bayfort, Luxembourg, Germany. On Jan. 20, 1859 he was united in marriage with Agnes Kartheiser. In 1864 with his wife and two children he traveled to America where, at first, he settled in Belgium, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin. After a few months they moved to Chilton.

Nine children were born to this couple – namely: Peter and Nicholas of Brillion (these two were born in Bayfort), Mrs. Jacob Gonwa, Mrs. Philip Kraus and George Binsfeld of Belgium, Frank of Tempe, Florida, John of Chilton and Mrs. Conrad Buhl of Chilton Town. One daughter, Mrs. Jacob Rank, passed away four years before her father.

After a short service at St. Mary’s Church, the body was carried to the depot and taken by passenger service to Random Lake. Here the body was met by an escort of Knights of Columbus and taken to Dacada, former home of the deceased. At St. Nicholas Church, a Solemn Requeim High Mass took place, followed by burial at the Parish cemetery. An Honor guard of Knights of Columbus acted as pallbearers. He died on July 27, 1908.
