- Stumpf, Eugene
Eugene Stumpf, of Darboy, age 78, died Wednesday, February 14, 2007, at Appleton Medical Center. Eugene was born August 7, 1928, the son of the late Joseph and Isabel (Wallace) Stumpf. On May 15, 1952, he married Casilda, the daughter of the late George and Jacobina (Jacobs) VandeWettering. The couple lived in the Town of Harrison their entire married lives. They operated Stumpf's Shady Rest Tavern from 1950 to 1994. Eugene was also a Rural Mail Carrier from 1965 to 1990. He was a charter member and avid supporter of the Town of Harrison Athletic Assoc. He loved spending time at the Town of Harrison Ball Field, sturgeon fishing, and playing sheepshead and pool. He enjoyed being part of his children and grandchildren's activities and a "proud" spectator.
Eugene is survived by his wife of 54 years, Casilda; his children: Jeff (Sandy) Stumpf and their children, Heath (Jill) and Andrea Stumpf, Darboy; Carol (Paul) Sheridan and their children, Joe and Max Sheridan, Westerville, Ohio; Barbara (Mark) Koester and their children, Rebecca (John) Groff, Gina, Dan (fiancee Sara Masura) and Erin Koester, Darboy; Mike (Lisa) Stumpf and their children, Jenny Larson, Katie, Angie, Ben and Dustin Stumpf, Neenah; Ken (Nancy) Stumpf and their children, Shelly (fiance Matt Aures) and Samantha Stumpf, Kimberly; Fred (Karen) Stumpf and their children, Olivia, Helena, and Eric Stumpf, Darboy; Lee (Marie) Stumpf and their children, Nicole, Kyle and Brady Stumpf, Darboy; Charles (Brenda) Stumpf and their children, Jacob and Brittney Stumpf, Sherwood; Wayne Stumpf, Darboy; Sheila (Bradley) Schinke and their children, Jack, Sophia, and Arthur Schinke, Combined Locks; his great-grandchildren: Sativa and Gage Larson and Alison Stumpf; brothers and sisters: Sister Bridget, Pat (Phyllis) Stumpf, Doris (Roger) George, Alice Parker, Ellen Lamers, Kathleen Stumpf, Paul (Ruth) Stumpf, Tom (Ann) Stumpf, Joe (Joan) Stumpf and John (Lynn) Stumpf. He is further survived by his wife's family: Laverne VandeWettering, Tekla Hart, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Donald; a granddaughter, Cassie Stumpf; a grandson, Tyler Stumpf; brother and sisters-in-law: Harvey (Theresa) Stumpf and Shirley Stumpf; brothers-in-law: Herman Lamers, Kenneth Hart and Vitus VandeWettering; sister-in-law, Rita (Sylvester) Fink.
Funeral Services for Eugene will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 17, 2007, at Holy Spirit Parish, Holy Angels Catholic Church, Darboy, with Fr. Walter Stumpf officiating. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, at Boettcher Family Funeral Home, Kaukauna, and again on Saturday, directly at church, from 11 a.m. until the time of service. A 7:30 p.m. parish prayer service will conclude the evening on Friday. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established. 920-766-2099
