- Shirley A. Tews, age 77, of Fremont, passed away on Friday, November 6, 2015 at Appleton Medical Center. She was born on December 13, 1937, in Appleton, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Herbert and Ella(Stern)Springstroh. On July 15, 1961, Shirley married Lyle Tews at Riverview Lutheran Church in Appleton. He preceded her in death on October 31, 2008. Shirley was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in the Town of Caledonia, where she served on the Ladies Aid and LWML, and was a former choir member and Sunday School teacher. After graduating high school, Shirley began working in the accounting department at Kimberly Clark, and continued working there for 36 years before retiring in 1992. Shirley and Lyle loved to travel and visited many places in the world. She loved collecting recipes and cooking, gardening and doing puzzles of all kinds. Shirley was a special grandma to Olivia and Sydney, they spent endless hours together just having fun. They had a very special place in her heart and her love and care will be forever remembered in their hearts. Shirley is survived by her son, Todd(Lois), Fremont, two granddaughters, Olivia and Sydney; two brothers, Roland(Diana)Springstroh, Lexington, NC and Wayne(Candice)Springstroh, Appleton; a sister-in-law, Lois Hoewisch, Greenville; a brother-in-law, Rollin Jim (Diana)Tews, New London; five nieces, five nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her in-laws, Lorenz and Frieda Tews, and a brother-in-law, Walter Hoewisch. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 13, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church, E9016 March Rd., Fremont. Rev. Doug Reinders will officiate. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, at the Lewin Funeral Home, from 4-8PM and on Friday , at the church, from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
