    • Gerald P. Baker, age 77, formerly of Appleton, died Friday, June 1, at King Veterans Home. Gerald was born in Appleton on June 12, 1934, to the late John and Mary (Munes) Baker. Gerald proudly served his country with both the Marines and the Navy through two tours of Viet Nam, retiring after 22 years of service. During his tours of Viet Nam, he received two Purple Heart Awards and the Gold Star Award. After his career in the military, he worked for Miller Electric and did security work with the Paper Valley Hotel. Gerald was a member of the Viet Nam Veterans Association.

      He is survived by his son Conrad Baker, FL; step son Joe, FL; four sisters: Carol (Gordon) Zabel, New London, Rose Misco, Appleton, Lillian Baker, Hortonville, and Helen (Ray) Seidl, Darboy; two brothers: Arthur (Joan) Baker, Solon Springs, WI and Clifford (Gladys) Baker, Appleton. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

      He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Donald.

      A Funeral Service for Gerald will take place at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, at the Brettschneider-Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel with Deacon Mauri Reed officiating. Friends may visit at the funeral chapel on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service. Interment with full military honors will take place at King Veterans Cemetery.
