    • Green Bay - Ione M. Piontek, 98, Green Bay resident, died Friday, November 2, 2018 at a local care facility. She was born January 19, 1920 in Green Bay to the late George and Thanna (White) Van Boxel. Ione attended St. Willebrord Grade School and St. Joseph Academy, graduating in 1938. She married Frank "Fritz" Piontek on July 19, 1941, at St. Willebrord Catholic Church. Fritz preceded her in death on December 2, 2008.

      The holidays were a special time of the year for Ione. She looked forward to all of them. She especially enjoyed hosting them as it gave her the opportunity to cook. Ione was known for feeding her company, letting no one go home hungry. Her family was her life and she celebrated each and every one of them from children, grandchildren, great grandchildren to all her siblings and nieces and nephews. Ione was proud of their accomplishments and enjoyed being a part of them. She was a long time member of St. Philip The Apostle Parish.

      Ione is survived by three children: Joni and Norb Kane, Ashwaubenon; Randy and Mary Piontek, Allouez and Peggy and Jerry Blohowiak, Bellevue; seven grandchildren: Kelle Jorgensen, Kim Kane-Gomilla, Tracy (Tracy) Roffers, Gina (Troy) Koebke, Scott (Nicole) Blohowiak, Shelly (Joe) Brzycki, Brett (Fiancee, Kari) Piontek; great grandchildren: Lucas and Kirsten Jorgensen, Brent Roffers, Brady Gomilla, Tyler, Alex and Ethan Blohowiak; Zack and Ben Brzycki; one sister and brother-in-law, Jo Ann and Dave Minten, De Pere; two sisters-in-law, Mary Van Boxel, and Angie Piontek, both Green Bay; nieces and nephews.

      She was preceded in death by one grandchild, Kristen Lee Piontek as well as her siblings: Lucille (Bob) Burgoyne; Albert (Jeanne) Van Boxel; Don (Phyllis) Van Boxel; Betty (Chester) Cieslewicz; Elaine (Ken) Blohowiak; Dick Van Boxel and George (Donna) Van Boxel.

      Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. from 4:00-8:00 pm Friday, November 9. Parish wake service 7:00 pm Friday. Visitation will continue on Saturday at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 312 Victoria St., after 9:30 am until time of Mass. Funeral Mass 11:00 am at the church with Rev. Bill Hoffman officiating. Burial in the Allouez Catholic Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to the Piontek family at www.prokowall.com. In lieu of floral expressions, a memorial fund has been established in her name.

      Ione's family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Birch Creek in De Pere, especially, Vianney, Miranda, Mel, Nancy and Karen. Their care and consideration over the last three years for Ione and her family will always be remembered.
